HOW DOES IT WORK
To use bioMail you need four things:
- Any e-mail account. Even web-based accounts will work with bioMail.
- A Biometric Device, which you can purchase from our online shop, or simply use the one built into your Phone or Laptop. bioMail for PC supports readers from most manufacturers.
- The bioMail Email App for Mobile, or the Microsoft Outlook Plugin.
- A bioMail encryption quota package. This is available in a number of memberships to suit your requirements of an Individual, Business, Enterprise or Government account.
The Process
To send a secure message using bioMail, you compose your message as usual from within the bioMail Mobile Email app, or if using Microsoft Outlook then as usual there.
You can format your message using various fonts and text styles, and you can add file attachments in the usual way. When you are ready to Send, you simply select the bioMail Send icon at which time you will be prompted you for your biometric of your choice.
- Finger Scan
- Inbuilt fingerprint reader
- Bluetooth reader (see the Products section)
- USB reader (see the Products section)
- Face Scan
- Iris Scan
- Voice Scan
bioMail scans your biometric and creates a mathematical model of it (Template). The model is sent to the bioMail server using an SSL (secure sockets layer) connection. The bioMail server verifies that your Template model matches the one you submitted when you enrolled into your account.
If the biometric matches, bioMail encrypts your message with AES-256 using a unique “one-time” security key that is known only to the bioMail server. The encrypted message is then sent to your recipient(s) as a normal e-mail.
Anyone intercepting that email message (and attachments) will simply see a large amount of jumbled characters – the encrypted message – and be unable to read or decrypt it just like any strongly encrypted information.
Remember, bioMail uses Military Grade AES-256 encryption. And, one-time Encryption Keys making bioMail extremely secure.
When a recipient of your secure e-mail receives it, it arrives in their regular inbox as a normal email, however being highly encrypted.
If the recipient is using Microsoft Outlook, simply opening the message will activate the bioMail plugin and ask that person to scan their biometric for validation.
If the recipient is using bioMail for Mobile, opening the message will activate the bioMail software and ask the person to scan their biometric.
Again, bioMail creates a mathematical model from the biometric scan and sends it to the bioMail server. The server compares the recipients’ fingerprint model with the one that was submitted by the recipient at enrollment time. If it matches, it returns the security key so that the bioMail software can decrypt and display the message.
